FOLS-B Adjustable Light Source with Dual Power Supply

Field technicians often face invalid acceptance reports caused by unstable light‑source output. Traditional separate‑setup workflow requires manual wavelength and modulation configuration on both light source and power meter. Mismatched settings directly produce wrong loss‑test readings and trigger repeated site revisits.

FOLS‑B handheld fiber optical light‑source solves these real‑world pain‑points. It adopts high‑performance FP‑LD laser module, achieving excellent short‑term stability of ±0.05dB within 30 minutes. When paired with FOPM‑B optical power meter, the unique Wave‑ID function enables automatic wavelength synchronization, removing human‑error risks from manual configuration.

Output power can be continuously adjusted from ‑5dBm to ‑12dBm with real‑time LCD display readout. Multiple signal modes are supported: CW continuous‑wave plus 270Hz /330Hz /1kHz /2kHz modulation signals for multi‑fiber identification in dense cable bundles.

Four factory‑configured model options cover multimode, single‑mode, combined SM+MM and PON triple‑wavelength test scenarios. FC/PC output interface is standard. Dual‑power‑supply supports AA batteries for outdoor field deployment, or 5V DC adapter for long‑duration non‑stop running inside laboratory and production‑line environments. DF‑B laser upgrade is available as factory custom option.

This light‑source must be used together with optical power meter to complete fiber insertion‑loss measurement. It is widely adopted for FTTx/PON construction acceptance, CATV troubleshooting, data‑center cabling verification and optical‑component quality inspection.

FAQ

Q1: What is Wave‑ID synchronization function for?
A: Wave‑ID enables automatic wavelength matching when FOLS‑B is paired with FOPM‑B optical power meter. It eliminates human error caused by manually setting mismatched wavelength on source and power meter, avoiding wrong insertion‑loss test readings and repeated site visits.

Q2: Can FOLS‑B work alone to test fiber insertion loss?
A: No. FOLS‑B is only a light source. To complete fiber insertion‑loss measurement, you have to pair it with an optical power meter, recommended FOPM‑B for full Wave‑ID sync function.

Q3: What are the differences among four FOLS‑B models?
A: FOLS‑8530B for multimode fiber (850/1300nm). FOLS‑3155B for regular single‑mode FTTx (1310/1550nm). FOLS‑85303155B is SM+MM combined model covering both multimode and single‑mode. FOLS‑314955B is PON triple‑wavelength version for PON network verification.

Q4: What is the meaning of ±0.05dB /30min stability specification?
A: Under 20℃ ambient temperature, laser output power drift will not exceed ±0.05dB within continuous 30‑minute running. Stable output ensures repeatable and valid fiber acceptance test results for engineering projects.

Q5: What scenarios are the two power‑supply modes suitable for?
A: Install 3×AA batteries for outdoor field construction and maintenance work. Connect 5V DC external adapter for long‑term non‑stop running in laboratory or production‑line QC environment.

Q6: Can I upgrade laser to DFB and request OEM private‑label?
A: Yes. DFB laser upgrade, custom output connector and OEM / private‑label service are available as factory custom options upon request.
